Starting a home based business is an exciting venture. The opportunity to create a business of your own, be your own boss, and create the income you really want is what it's all about. However, it's not just as simple as hanging a shingle and waiting for customers to come calling. You have to actively market your business and the internet is the most powerful marketing tools on the planet. There are a number of ways you can use the internet to market your home based business. Below are the three fundamental strategies I recommend you start with.First, you need a website. That's Kind of obvious, of course. You should build your site using a blog format. You can use an account based template like Google's Blogger or you can create your own using blog site building tools like WordPress. The pros and cons of each is a topic for another article but do your research before deciding. Your blog will be your home based business nerve center. It is where you can have your product pages, order pages, informational posts, and even lead contact forms to capture customer information.
Second, start writing articles related to your niche. Whatever your product or service is you need to be the expert. Marketing your home based business online is really all about branding yourself. After all, you probably don't have a totally unique product or service. There are probably dozens of others online selling the same thing (or close). Therefore, if you want customers to choose you then you've got to be seen as the expert to go to. Writing articles regularly and publishing them on article directory sites like EzineArticles and ArticleDashboard, is a great way to get your name out there and it's free. It also has the added benefit of creating external links back to your website which the search engines love.
Third, open a pay per click (PPC) account with Google AdWords. This is the home based business marketing silver bullet and Google is the 800 lb guerilla when it comes to paid marketing online. There is no faster way to generate immediate traffic to your website than to set up and run AdWords campaigns. Yes, this is a paid strategy so you will need some capital. I recommend you start with at least $3,000. This will get you enough traffic to begin to generate sales and cash flow. To be fair, PPC is not for the faint of heart. You must be committed to your business and to learning how to master PPC advertising if you want to go down this road. However, if you do you will realize massive traffic to your site and, if your site is built correctly, traffic equals customers.
When marketing your home based business do your homework. There is a ton of information online about the strategies I've laid out above as well as a whole host of other techniques. There are even marketing platforms that you can sign up for that teach you how to brand yourself and even give you the tools to make it happen. If you are new to internet marketing then I would strongly recommend you use one of these services. It will serve as your online university for getting your internet marketing education and be the fastest and most cost effective way to getting your home based business marketing up and running.
