If golf is your game, Haines City is a large market affordable second home.

There are two major advantages to the life of holidays in Haines City, according to City Administrator Jonathan Evans. The first is that many of the best golf courses in the nation are 30 minutes or less away.

Many residents, like Evans himself, live on a golf course.

The second is the price of the estate. "You can build a new home here for $ 50 to $ 60 per square foot," he said. "It is very affordable."

Prices of existing homes are also low. A median value of $123,000, they are about two-thirds of the price of a typical House of the United States.

It is easy to get to Haines. Holidaymakers can fly into Tampa or Orlando International Airport and less than an hour of their secondary residence. And with along the Atlantic and Gulf 90 minutes drive, there is plenty to do, even for non-golfers.
