The British banking group HSBC said on Monday appointed the new general manager for continental Europe by Peter Boyles, the current general manager for France and the Tony Mahoney to the position of Deputy CEO for Continental Europe .
Both appointments are effective Feb. 1.
Mr. Boyles will be placed directly under the responsibility of Stuart Gulliver, HSBC's president for Europe, Middle East and Global Businesses. He will be responsible for operations of HSBC in 26 Continental European countries, including France, Germany, Turkey and the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Europe. He was also named Vice President of HSBC France.
Furthermore, Christophe de Backer, currently deputy CEO of HSBC France, will succeed Peter Boyles as general manager for France. Beunardeau replace Jean Christophe de Backer in his duties as Deputy CEO of HSBC France, will be appointed deputy CEO, while retaining his current responsibility of the bank financing, investment and markets in France.

Oil opens down 40 cents at 74.14 dollars a barrel in New York, struggling to recover from a weekend which had put the barrel under pressure.
