The leisure group announced a jump of more than 14% of its net profit in the first half of its 2009-2010 fiscal year thanks to good ski areas. For the full year, the group anticipates, however, difficulties.
Compagnie des Alpes can thank skiers flocked to the slopes of the different fields it operates. Val d'Isere Les Arcs via Chamonix ski areas, which represent about 88% of group turnover, rose by 0.5% on a comparable basis to 305.5 million euros in the first half 2009-2010. The total turnover of the group climbed 0.3% to 343.9 million euros. The net appears it up 14.2% to 33.1 million euros.
The leisure group, which also operates theme parks, including Asterix, but also the Grevin museum, has improved its operating margin by 70 basis points to 22.2%. At May 16 (30% of the season), attendance at parks showed a decrease of less than 3% depending on the group, which involves bad weather in early spring and a holiday schedule less favorable. The turnover of the branch Amusement park retreats from 1.5% to 38.3 million euros.
Outlook Stable:
For all of its 2009-2010 fiscal year, Compagnie des Alpes said it expects an activity lifts stable or up slightly on a comparable basis. The parks known for their hand "activity pre-season contrasts", but the prospects are encouraging.
Compagnie des Alpes prefers to remain conservative in an economic context it considers still difficult and after adverse weather conditions early in the season.
