Goldman Sachs promises a self-examination .

The CEO of Goldman Sachs Group, Lloyd Blankfein, said Friday at the general meeting of the bank that it would conduct a "self-scrutiny" of its practices. "There is no greater priority for our board and our management to undertake a review of the comprehensive set of management practices," he told shareholders.
Goldman Sachs will also create a committee of management standards that will be responsible for making proposals to management on internal standards and transparency, "he added.
The investment bank, often described as the most powerful institution on Wall Street, is the target of an investigation for fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the authority of U.S. financial markets. The latter is accused of failing to inform investors that a complex financial product it sold was designed in part by the fund manager Paulson that focused parallel to the depreciation of the "CDO (collateralized debt obligation ").
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that the group has initiated discussions with the SEC for an amicable settlement of this issue.
